Crafted from natural slate, the Surmi 60cm Trough is a large capacity planter for the garden, is clean rectangular shape gives it a modern, architectural feel.

Each trough is created from naturally split, sectional sheets of riven slate, resin bonded together for a sturdy and durable planting vessel.

The graining and texture on each piece are utterly unique, you’ll typically see warm tones of grey, copper and silver running through the stone.

Made your way

Every element is yours to choose. Your family name, nicknames, house name or a personal message, your words are engraved directly into the face of the trough. Pick the colour of your infill to complement the natural tones of your slate.

Nine hand-painted colours

Choose from nine carefully selected colours, each applied by hand. Every shade is brushed into the engraved recesses for a crisp, even finish against the slate. Three of those are metallics — gold, silver and rose gold. These have a small additional charge and create a beautiful light-catching finish, shifting and glowing as the light moves across the face of the trough.

Sandblasted in our Norfolk studio

Each trough is engraved in-house at our Norfolk studio by skilled engravers with years of experience working with stone. We hand-mask every design before sandblasting it into the surface. This creates deep, well defined lettering, rather than simply scratching the surface.

The result is beautifully defined lettering with genuine depth and natural shadow, designed to remain clear and legible outdoors, standing the test of time.

All of the products in our slate planter collection are easy to clean and maintain and are frost and weather resistant.

Every piece is hand-engraved and made to order right here in our workshop. Please allow 3-4 weeks from point of order for delivery.

If you need delivery sooner for a special occasion or celebration, do let us know as all of our engraving is done in house, so we will work with you to do our best to achieve delivery in time for you.

Your order will be delivered by a 3rd party network, you should receive text message updates regarding the progress of your delivery from the courier directly.

For some lighter products (subject to weight and size), we may be able to offer a couple of delivery options. You may have the choice between a courier parcel or a pallet service, though we always suggest using a pallet service to keep your order as safe as possible during delivery.
