Contemporary coastal home & garden project

Thornham in Norfolk

The clients at this property wanted to create a modern oasis by the coast. The courtyard was paved in Foras Mandolin Grey porcelain with a Fusion 600 water feature at its heart. The same tile was then carried through the downstairs of the house.

The master bedroom (including a magnificent freestanding bath) was tiled using Foras products. On the floor the client chose our Serena Fog porcelain, accented by our Melody decorative tile.

In the downstairs cloakroom, the clients wanted to create an impactful space and chose to pair our Monkey Puzzle Porcelain on the floor with the Montblanc Blue to give a pop of colour.

We are proud to have helped our client create their dream home.

Zoned Garden Renovation

Denver in Norfolk

Our clients came to us wanting a complete garden design, they had a garden plan but wanted to create a zoned space where they could relax and entertain. Our design of a central courtyard with a Pure Layered Slate water feature, then a covered dining area at one end and a raised seating area at the other was met with approval.

For the central area they chose Dalliance Bianco porcelain, giving a clean, bright and modern look. For either end they chose Foras Foundation Soot porcelain. Both of these slabs were accented by our St Quentin Silver limestone setts and Grey Granite Pebble mesh sheet.

Underneath the pergola we created a outdoor rug effect using Ca’Pietra Brompton Kensington tiles.

The end result was a sleek modern space which with luscious planting with plenty of colour. A truly special space.

Spectacular Show Gardens

Oaklands

Foras were approached to be part of the Oaklands project in 2020. This complete home renovation was an extensive project which included terraces, landscaped gardens and an incredible feature pergola.

The main areas were paving with 1200x1200x20 Mandolin Grey Porcelain to give a seamless look. This tile was also used to cap the tops of the raised beds, with Foras making bespoke drop down pieces. The main areas were accented with Grey Granite Pebble mesh and Copper Slate cladding.

There are Foras features throughout the garden, a Belmont 75cm Layered slate water feature sits proudly beside the pergola. The garden includes two benches, a Strabo and a Morgan Imperial, both in our shark sandstone. Nestled within the formal gardens is a Foras Rainbow Flight birdbath on a Weathered Oak plinth.

The owner of this magnificent garden shares pictures and garden inspiration in Instagram, follow @oaklands_garden for more.

Stunning Wedding Venue

The Old Hall, Ely

The team at the The Old Hall started working with Foras in 2008. Since then their business has grown alongside Foras, expanding more and more. They are now one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Cambridgeshire, also offering hotel stays, fine dining and exclusive party/event hire.

The extensive terraces are laid in Foras Moorland York F40 sandstone which has the perfect amount of character to complement the Jacobean manor house. The pathways are detailed with Foras Moorland York F40 Setts.

As the Old Hall continues to expand, more terraces will be required, thanks to Foras’ commitment to consistency and colour selection new Foras Moorland York F40 can be laid alongside older batches of the stone with little to no tonal variation.

Beige Hawaii Pebble Mosaic

Poolside Retreat

Creake in Norfolk

Working with prestigious garden designer, Timothy Carless, our clients wanted a traditional pool space to complement their home.  Our Hampton Cream F40 Sandstone with its cream, fawn and butter soft caramel tones was chosen to work alongside the red brick of the home. Hampton Cream is weathered to give the appearance of an aged and worn stone, the natural surface texture also gives excellent slip resistance which is vital when surrounding a pool.

The vast terrace opens out on the lawns with views across the unspoilt Norfolk countryside.

Special pieces of 38mm thick stone were ordered for step treads and sit around the pool, this extra depth giving and attractive leading edge. The main areas were laid in a linear 3 size random mix adding extra character and authenticity and Hampton Cream F40 Setts were also used to add interest.

This is a calming and elegant space, which our clients will enjoy for many years to come.

Italianate Paradise

Wereham in Norfolk

Our clients own a successful building business and had used Foras Avery Limestone in their commercial projects. They fell in love with the calming cream tones and fossil detail of the stone and decided to use it in their own garden. Avery is a hard limestone and is available in a versatile mix of formats and thicknesses. There is also a matching edging brick.

The design called for 3 water features, two Bliss 60cm spheres were chosen to create a focal point framing the view across the garden and onto the fields beyond. The colourful markings of the rainbow sandstone complimented the tones of the Avery flagstones. Each sphere is completely unique and as such our client took care to choose two which worked well together. Visit our Stowbridge showroom’s selection area to choose your special piece. The features were positioned atop raised beds, clad with our Beige Hawaii Pebble Mosaics, further accomplishing the Mediterranean theme.

To the side of the garden, close to an extensive lawn area, the Foras Aqueum Vortex water feature glitters in the sunshine, the movement of the water reflecting the light. This feature comes with an integral light so can be enjoyed when the sun sets.

This is a garden made for entertaining and relaxing, an oasis of calm and light in the Norfolk countryside.

Coastal Cottage

Heacham in Norfolk

Our clients were living in a very traditional coastal property, however they had always desired a modern home! They decided to acquire some nearby land to build a contemporary paradise from scratch. Working with a local garden designer they chose our Foundation Talc porcelain, this offset beautifully against the structured garden.

The focus was on creating indoor/outdoor living, a seamless transition between the polished concrete floor of the inside of the property to the Foundation Talc porcelain outside.

The 20mm thick slabs are so strong they can be laid as stepping stones, allowing the grass of the lawn to break up the pathway and adding a playful edge to the design.

Industrial Edge

Coastal Norfolk

The trend for all things industrial shows no sign of slowing down! Our clients wanted to incorporate this theme into their 3 bathrooms.

Bathroom 1 offset warm oak against an aged copper effect tile on the walls and floor, brought together with a glass mosaic for detail. The whole room feels clean, luxurious and masculine.

Bathroom 2 was designed to make the most of  a traditional stone wall, bringing together polished concrete with a distressed finish tile. This was further enhanced by the use of a raised textured geometric tile in the storage inserts.

Bathroom 3 used a handmade brick tile with a distressed finish to incredible effect. This dramatic tile was paired with white walls and our Foundation Talc tile on the floor, letting the detail take center stage.

Sphere of Reflections

Nottingham

Our client had their garden designed to make the most of their spectacular views, their designer chose to use our Neptune Flight water feature. The clear acrylic sphere reflects the world around it and provides a unique visual aspect to their planting.

Upside Down Living

Norfolk Seaside

This unusual property has been designed to make the most of the spectacular coastal views nearby. The front door leads into a reception area and the bedrooms – climbing the stone clad stairs leads to the kitchen and living area and then directly out onto a raised platform, perfect for viewing the Norfolk Coast.

An established builder and developer, our client chose Foras Avery Signature for the main floors, accented by Silver Honed Limestone and marble in the bathrooms. The kitchen area was enhanced b y Foundation Talc porcelain, which also carried through onto the viewing platform.

Meticulous New Build Property

Hunstanton Home

Our client wanted to create a calm yet playful atmosphere in their new build home. Using Avery LNK throughout the downstairs floor gave a modern yet homely edge, with a pop of colour in the kitchen from Ca’Pietra’s Pottery Ocean.

The bathrooms were designed to offer visual interest, without clashing with the calming theme of the home. Ca’Pietra’s Woodland Glade were paired with Foras’s Lavagna White in the main en-suite. The other en-suites were tiled with Serena Shell and Ruben Clear Deco (indoor 10mm version).
