The Shard Font is a striking contemporary water feature that combines sculptural form, flowing water and the luminous beauty of fused glass. Elegant and calming, water gently ripples across the surface of the elevated glass bowl before flowing into the reservoir below, bringing movement, reflection and tranquillity to any outdoor space.
Recently showcased at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on the Peter Beales Roses stand, the Shard Font will also be exhibited at the upcoming RHS Sandringham Flower Show on the Foras stand.
At the centre of each feature is a handcrafted fused glass bowl, balanced on a sleek curved metal stand. Available in a selection of eight distinctive bowl designs, every piece is individually created using layers of glass infused with metal oxides and specialist paints. The fusion process produces unique variations in colour, movement and texture, while naturally formed bubbles within the glass create luminous, iridescent effects. No two bowls are ever the same, making each Shard Font a true one-off piece of moving art.
Self-contained and beautifully understated, the Shard Font creates a gentle ripple effect that changes throughout the day as light interacts with the flowing water and glass surface. The contemporary stainless-steel structure is powder coated to any finished by UK fabricators, with every feature built entirely to order in the UK and customisable to suit individual spaces and specifications.

Our art glass water features are one off pieces of individually produced fused glass, the fusing process allows us to create both colour and texture within each piece. However, due to their artisan nature, they will require additional care above and beyond that of a standard water feature.
Adding the element of water to a piece of art, not just a vessel of stone or acrylic, requires some additional steps and care. Our own glass features have been running in our gardens for many years, in all weathers, and have remained strong and beautiful.

As a material, glass can be subject to thermal shock which can cause damage or even destruction of the piece. Thermal shock is a phenomenon characterised by a rapid change in temperature, just as a glass bowl fresh from a hot oven would shatter if filled with cold water, a glass feature heated by strong sunlight will be damaged if cold water is poured directly on it.
To this end it is imperative that the following care points are followed for the safe installation, maintenance and running of this water feature, so that it may be appreciated for many years to come:
- The feature must be installed on a cool day, having been kept either in its packaging or indoors until install. The feature must not have been left outside for long periods in direct sunlight and then installed.
- Once installed the feature must run continuously and not be turned off and on repeatedly.
- After any maintenance where the feature must be switched off, the feature must be cool to the touch before it is switched on again.
- In the event of an unexpected power cut, the feature should be switched off and covered to protect it from the sun’s rays. When power is restored, only switch back on once the feature has been touched to check that the glass is cool.
Foras Water Features do not require a water supply, but do require an external plug socket (dry box) to power the pump, plus an additional socket to power the LED light (if required).
All features are provided with a full component kit to ensure they run to perfection.
All Foras water features will be provided with full installation instructions, and further assistance is on hand from our technical team on 01366 381069 or [email protected]
Upon purchase you will be required to sign a form stating your understanding and acceptance of these Glass Water Feature Terms and Conditions.
