Surmi 90cm Slate Trough

Our Surmi 90cm Slate Troughs are hand crafted from natural pieces of slate that are split along their natural cleft, the large Surmi trough is perfect for housing your herbs, flowers and small trees.

This is the ideal solution for privacy or intimacy when planted with screening plants.

Each individual slate planter or trough displays its own natural tones that can include hues of grey, copper and silver and are pre-drilled for external use to ensure that your plants are never over watered.

All of the products in our slate planter collection are easy to clean and maintain and are frost and weather resistant.

Please Note:  Every piece is unique – no two are the same. Our slate planter collection is made from 100% natural stone. Variations in colour, tone, veining, and texture are part of their beauty – these are not faults.

Your order will be a kerbside delivery and will arrive on a pallet with a 3^rd party pallet network service which is explained in the delivery criteria link below:

Delivery Criteria

Heavier stone items will be packaged in a heavy duty, wooden crate which will require a steel leverage bar to open them.

Delivery lead times are usually within 5-7 working days from time of order however this can be extended during particularly busy periods.

If you would like to expedite your delivery, please leave a comment to this effect in the notes section when you check out and we will try our best to get your order to you as quickly as possible.

Please Note: Slate is a product of nature and as such, there will be variations in colour, texture and patina. These features are part of the natural beauty of stone, and ensure that each piece is completely unique.

• For Multiples– We will ensure they work well together, but exact colour matching (especially copper tones) is not guaranteed or offered.
• Online orders – Single items are picked at random from stock. We will not open multiple heavy crates to select colours.
• Copper tones are rare and cannot be requested when ordering online.  If you want to hand-pick your colour/tone, please visit our showroom selection area.
•  Website images show examples only – your planter will be unique. Natural slate comes from the earth – it is not manufactured. These differences are what make it special.

Slate is a metamorphic rock with a fine grain, it has the unique ability to be split accurately into straight slabs and plates. The split sheets each display unique texture and colouration, though always with a predominantly grey base. Slate varies in colour depending on where it is mined as the individual composition of the rock varies between localities. Slate is particularly suitable for use as a planter as it has an extremely low water absorption index, meaning that it is resistant to frost damage. It is incredibly durable and will last for hundreds of years, a Foras slate planter is a planter for life. Your Foras Surmi Slate Product will be pre-drilled for water drainage.
