Oberon Armillary Sphere On Natural Slate Plinth
Handmade in Norfolk by a local artisan, our stunning Oberon Armillary will become a focal point in your garden.
Presented on our Surmi Natural Slate Plinth with it’s rustic textured finish, our exclusive Oberon Armillary with it’s striking astronomical design is guaranteed to impress!
Stability is ensured by the addition of a Brindal sandstone base with a 50mm brace onto which the Natural Slate Plinth is secured.
Invented circa the 3rd Century BC, armillary spheres traditionally consist of spherical frameworks of rings representing longitude and latitude, as well as other astronomically important features, all centred around the Earth or the Sun. They were also used heavily in renaissance art to represent wisdom and culture.
Sourced locally for authenticity, each Mystras Armillary is hand-crafted to order in a bold imposing solid steel and enhanced by a clear coated lacquer which catches the light.
Forged from mild steel the armillary is designed to age and oxidise over time, and as such has not been powder-coated.
Available in 2 plinth heights – 75cm and 90cm
Our Surmi Natural Slate Plinths are also available to purchase separately
Please Note – Our Oberon Armillary is hand made to order and will be delivered to you within 4-6 weeks
Please Note – Oxidisation will occur from the moment the Oberon Armillary is situated outside, this natural process will add to the charm and character to the piece and does not constitute a reason for return.

My Grandmother passed away recently and we wanted something special in the garden by which to remember her, a friend recommended Foras so we visited one afternoon. On arrival we were greeted by Gemma, she asked if she could help find anything specific but we explained we were just browsing. We spent a fair bit of time exploring all the wonderful items for sale and narrowed down our choice to a water feature and a static sculpture. We approached Gemma who couldn’t have been more helpful, she advised us the sculpture was called an Oberon Armillary Sphere. It is quite a statement piece and we felt it would look amazing in our garden and a really nice way to remember my Grandmother. It arrived, well packaged on a pallet and our builder installed it with very helpful advice over the phone from the Foras team. The whole experience was extremely enjoyable and stress free! We love our new purchase and plan to come back for the water feature we were considering towards the end of Summer! Thank you to Gemma and all the team at Foras for making our first visit and purchase so memorable. We will be back”
