The Basa is an unusual presentation piece produced from natural slate that displays beautiful charcoal and copper tones with an organic and tactile surface texture.
It sits well as a sculptural objet d’art but also looks spectacular when paired with bright planting; the ruggedness of the slate is offset against the gentle forms of vegetation.
The range encompasses a variety of sizes which work on their own, placed together as a group or paired with one of our slate, oak or sandstone plinths.
Deceptively sturdy, the Basa is stylishly simple yet remains interesting and multi-dimensional.
Resistant to frost and all British weather conditions our slate vases are easy to clean and maintain.
Dimensions are the diameter of the vase: 50cm or 60cm – both are suitable for external use, simply select the external option from the drop-down menu and your sculpture will be supplied with pre-drilled drainage holes.
PLEASE NOTE: Plinth is not included and is for purely illustrative purposes.
Please Note: For external products – checking the drainage hole for obstructions as part of a maintenance program is advised.
All outlet sales are governed by our Foras Outlet Terms of Sale.
Please Note: Slate is a product of nature and as such, there will be variations in colour, texture and patina. These features are part of the natural beauty of stone, and ensure that each piece is completely unique.
- For Multiples– We will ensure they work well together, but exact colour matching (especially copper tones) is not guaranteed or offered.
- Online orders – Single items are picked at random from stock. We will not open multiple heavy crates to select colours.
- Copper tones are rare and cannot be requested when ordering online. If you want to hand-pick your colour/tone, please visit our showroom selection area.
- Website images show examples only – your planter will be unique. Natural slate comes from the earth – it is not manufactured. These differences are what make it special.
Slate is a metamorphic rock with a fine grain, it has the unique ability to be split accurately into straight slabs and plates. The split sheets each display unique texture and colouration, though always with a predominantly grey base. Slate varies in colour depending on where it is mined as the individual composition of the rock varies between localities. Slate is particularly suitable for use as a planter as it has an extremely low water absorption index, meaning that it is resistant to frost damage. It is incredibly durable and will last for hundreds of years, a Foras slate plinth is a feature for life.
