RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Head for Flowers
Debuts

Head for Flowers is a new sculpture commissioned by Foras, marking an exciting addition to their artistic vision. She begins her journey at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the world’s most prestigious flower show, making her debut in the spectacular Peter Beales Rose Garden within the Main Floral Marquee.

Within the garden stands the sculpture that gives the whole project its name: Head for Flowers, a life-size classical figure whose head forms a living bowl, planted with stunning rose varieties. Built from a maquette designed by Norfolk sculptor Jasmine Bradbury and developed by Foras from her original drawings, the finished piece is planted with roses supplied by master growers Peter Beales Roses of Norfolk, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.

Peter Beales Rose Garden

Peter Beales Roses, a multi-award-winning Norfolk grower and RHS Master Grower, are creating a stunning rose garden within the Main Floral Marquee at Chelsea, providing the perfect setting for the sculpture’s first public appearance. The partnership is a celebration of two Norfolk institutions coming together on the world’s greatest horticultural stage.

This year marks Peter Beales Roses’ 50th anniversary, making the Chelsea debut all the more significant. Their rose garden will be a showcase of varieties developed by the Norfolk nursery, bringing genuine county heritage to the heart of the show.

The Shard Font

At the heart of the Peter Beales Rose Garden, Head for Flowers will be partnered with one of Foras’ most distinctive water features: the Shard Font. A unique fused glass bowl filled with rippling water, set against a powder-coated curved steel column, the Shard Font creates a striking centrepiece within the rose garden. Its sculptural form almost echoes the delicate beauty of a rose petal, making it a fitting focal point among Peter Beales’ renowned blooms and a true celebration of Norfolk craftsmanship.

After Chelsea, the Shard Font will travel on to RHS Sandringham, where it will be reunited with the full Foras display and take its place as the centrepiece of their Head for Flowers stand.

The Sculpture’s Journey

The introduction of Head for Flowers marks a new chapter for Foras, it’s the first time we have commissioned a sculpture, bringing an exciting new artistic dimension to the company, and Chelsea is just the beginning: after the show, Head for Flowers will continue her journey, travelling directly to her final home in the Foras Head for Flowers Garden at RHS Sandringham in July.

Her journey is a symbolic celebration of the RHS’s unprecedented expansion, bringing its iconic flower shows to new locations across the UK, broadening its reach, engaging new audiences, before taking pride of place in Norfolk, as a true pinnacle of the county’s creativity, craftsmanship and horticultural excellence.
