HortiCo Nursery & Garden Emporium
The team here at Foras are excited to introduce their newest stockist – HortiCo.
Based in Drove Orchards near Thornham, HortiCo nursery and garden emporium first opened its doors to the public in Autumn 2020 and has been flourishing ever since. Owned and run by local botanical experts Jez Scoles and Gary Nelson, HortiCo combines a traditional nursery, stocking a huge variety of houseplants, shrubbery and succulents with a stunning outdoor space featuring pots and planters and even a gift shop with a large range of botanical artwork, gifts and garden accessories.
Working with Foras has allowed them to develop some beautiful displays using our tiles & flagstones, giving them an edge over your average garden centre. Combining their creative flair for planting with our unusual products shows off the very best of garden inspiration.
Their displays include multiple running water features, including examples of our famous rainbow sandstone and rugged layered slate, which offer a taster of our range. As our selection is ever evolving please contact us to check which features are on display!

Cubism Pewter Bench – Simplistic, non-apologetic and strong, this bench shouts contemporary modernism. With its strong lines, it beds itself to the floor providing stable and stylish seating forever. Pewter sandstone displays tones of black and grey with striking silver striations which add a touch of glamour to this beautiful bench. Guaranteed to become a talking point in any garden or courtyard!
Gemini Birdbaths – Named after the astrological air element of the Gemini birth sign, this bird bath consists of two semi-circular pillars that are available in a choice height options. The pillars are slightly offset so they provide a great effect from which ever angle you view them from. The resting cup provides an indent in to which one of our rainbow flight bowls comfortably nestles to complete the look.
Keswick Planters – Gorgeous nostalgic large capacity Vintage Keswick planters influenced by 1940’s Britain. Made from premium grade galvanized zinc they will keep plants cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Want immediate impact? Use a trough! Hand crafted from natural pieces of slate that are split along their natural cleft, the small 50cm Surmi trough (shown left) is perfect for housing your herbs or flowers or as a modern window box. Each trough will display its own natural finish with hues of grey, copper and silver.
The medium 60cm Surmi trough is perfect for housing your herbs, flowers and small trees and the large 90cm trough allows you to create a screen with tall planting!
The Foras Surmi collection of slate planters also extends to vases for inside the home, box planters for the ultimate statement piece and tall square planters for added height!
Accent your planters with our Foras Forge plant stakes, they are designed and hand-forged locally in Norfolk as part of our Norfolk Spirit range, all our garden stakes are crafted in steel and coated with a non-toxic phosphate metal primer topped with a vinyl paint top coat so they can withstand all British weather conditions.

Inside the emporium you will find a huge selection of giftware, planters and our collection of slate vases. These beautiful vases allow you to bring the ruggedness of slate into the home and contrast sublimely with delicate planting. Products shown to the right include:
Sturgeon – Created with the finest slate the Sturgeon is ideally suited as a presentation piece for use within your home or garden. Named after it’s ocean dwelling counterpart due to the iridescent finish of the natural slate, it’s comfortable as a feature piece inside or outside. Available 3 different heights, 50cm, 75cm and 100cm to give your cut flowers or presentation dressing real impact!
Abalone – The Abalone is ideal for use as a vase or simply as a standalone presentation piece in any room in the home. Clean and simple lines make this a contemporary and sculptural work of art. The natural properties of the slate are revealed at their finest with the honed and smooth finish. Deceptively heavy, the Abalone is beautiful in its simplicity and is available in four size options – 20cm / 25cm / 30cm / 35cm
Basa – The Basa is an unusual presentation piece produced from natural slate that displays beautiful charcoal and copper tones with an organic and tactile surface texture. The vase sits well as a sculptural objet d’art but also looks spectacular when paired with bright foliage; the ruggedness of the slate is offset against the gentle forms of vegetation. The range encompasses a variety of sizes which work on their own and especially well when placed together as a group – 20cm / 30cm / 40cm / 50cm / 60cm
